NEW BALANCE: IN YO FACE!

realmadHECTIC x Mita x New Balance MT580

The New Balance MT580′s are classic trail runners from the ’90′s with vending machine bracelets for shoe laces.  If your pockets are deep enough, go ahead and slap $175 down and watch the heads turn all up and down the street.

That’s It, That’s All. – Trailer from Collaborative Media on Vimeo.

Super Snowboarder Travis Rice co-produced this epic new film, That’s It, That’s All, that “shows snowboarding how WE envisioned it”.  With over two years worth of footage, they were able to capture a wondrous journey through top notch snowboarding and breath taking scenery.

The entire thing is shot on High Definition and they used the same Cineflex system that Planet Earth was shot on.  Basically, the camera is mounted in a bubble, and then they surround it with 3 or 4 gyroscopes so that the camera operates on it’s own axis.  The helicopter can make a steep bank or jump in the air, and the shot stays perfectly on point.

Ballz! I hope this thing reaches some sort of iMAX screen in the near future.

ELVIS PRESLEY – CRAWFISH (PILOOSKI EDIT)

HIP HOP TWOSDAYS

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Following up on Alf Alpha’s dope new mix, let’s keep it straight hip hop, son!

Must admit, feeling a little scrappy this week.  Something in the air’s got me all fired up and these two bangers second that emotion.

First up we’ve got the classic, instantly recognizable sure shot from KRS-One’s first solo album, Return of the Boom Bap, “Sound Of Da Police”.  Never fails to get the crowd hyped.  Play it loud and keep an eye out for the 5-0.

KRS -ONE – SOUND OF DA POLICE

Next we’ve got one of the best album cuts in hip hop history, in my humble opinion.  Chuck D goes straight for the jugular on this warning to get the hell up on outta here if the fuzz starts creepin’.  The beat is raw and punishing, courtesy of the always intense Bomb Squad.

The best part of the song though has got to be the rookie Sgt. Hawkes’ “fuck you” rebuttal at the end, done in the most sinister and crooked cop manner possible.  Gives ya chills if you let it.

MELLOW OUT MONDAYS

Oh that “Mister T”, always getting into trouble.  This is the only vocal track from Marvin Gaye’s amazing score to the blaxploitation film, Trouble Man.  Never seen the movie but the score stands on its own as one of the best cool out records ever made.  Check out the original Rolling Stone review from 1973…

JAZZ (WE’VE GOT) & BUGGIN’ OUT

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Could this be the first video to feature a little snippet of another single at the beginning/end of it?  Hmmm, who knows?  All I knows is Q-Tip got flows…and Phife with those tanning booth goggles?!?!  Forget about it.
