In case you haven’t seen the billboards and bus stops plastered all over the place, there’s this movie called Cop Out that’s hitting theaters tonight, February 26th.
Once hilariously entitled A Couple of Dicks, Cop Out harkens back to action comedy cop blockbusters of yesteryear such as 48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop.
To give it that classic cop buddy film feel, Squeak E. Clean Production‘s very own Sam Spiegel and Brent Nichols were enlisted by the peerless Harold Faltermeyer (Beverly Hills Cop, Fletch, Top Gun) to help with the original score.
It’s nothing short of stellar… Listen to the results right now by heading to Cop Out‘s official website, clicking on “Menu,” and then clicking on “Soundtrack.”
The almighty Harold recently did an interview with the highly regarded SlashFilm.com and being the cool cat that he is gave Sam some propers when discussing the process of modernizing his much beloved signature sound!
Check it out right HERE and be sure to hit up the theaters this weekend!
Goodie Mob has reunited and rest assured that the world is now back to normal. Outkast is cool and all but these 4 long time friends are the real Dirty South.
Since blessing us with their debut “Soul Food” back in 1995 they’ve gone their separate ways (mostly due to the obvious and inevitable departure of the caramel voiced Cee-Lo for solo pastures) and then came back into the public consciousness with a jaw dropping return-to-form performance on the Jimmy Fallon show with the Roots backing them up. Check it out!
If you’re here in L.A., do yourself a big favor and catch them at the Nokia theater this Saturday night for what will no doubt be a barn burner. Tickets HERE.
To get your shrimp n’ grits boiling hot I”m gonna hit you up with a couple odes to the fairer sex. The first of which must be, in my humble opinion, the best “mama” song ever laid to wax. The emotion is so RAW!
That masterpiece is followed up by a silky syrup serenade to the ever beautiful black woman off their slept on sophomore album “Still Standing”. Soul food so tasty.
Oh snap, it’s an up & coming sandwich for you to munch on today. New wave duo Small Black out of Lon Gisland have teamed up with the present king of Georgia, Washed Out, to remix each other’s tracks before they go on tour together for the next few months (SXSW included). Check out their MySpace for more tracks and tour dates.
This is the best thing i’ve ever seen!
Brace yourself for the :34 mark when Kool Keith waxes poetic about Pat Riley “The GQ Head Coach”. Fucking brilliant.
