STOP THE VIRGENS DOCUMENTARY
Friday, March 2nd, 2012As you know by now, our main man Sam Spiegel served as the co-music director (along with Nick Zinner) for the mind blowing “psycho-opera” Stop The Virgens; spearheaded by close friend and front woman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O.
Stop The Virgens’ highly stylized blend of music and theater was a big hit at St. Ann’s Warehouse in DUMBO Brooklyn this past October as a focal point of the incredible week-long Creators Project: New York Event produced by our good friends at Vice and Intel.
The opera serves as a live version of the album that Sam wrote with Karen and a host of others a few years back. With big names such as Money Mark, the YYY’s drummer Brian Chase, and Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler of the Greenhornes/Racanteours contributing to the music, sound design by Andres Velasquez, costumes by Christian Joy, acting by Lily Taylor and direction by the amazing Adam Rapp, this “original live experience” was destined for absolute greatness.
Today we’re happy to announce that The Creators Project now has an intimate behind-the-scenes documentary for you all to check out in order to get a real sense of how it all came to be and what it took to pull it all off with such success. You can peep the 2 part documentary right HERE or just click on the video link below. Enjoi!
