Leo Zero dips into his distant memories of 90’s Italo Funk as the inspiration for this unexpected remix of Ce Ce Peniston’s dance floor classic.  Enjoy yourselves.

TO3CUTT3R = BEST PARTY EVER

sunset_horses

Sam n’ Ze are down under getting buck wild with it as N.A.S.A. breaks hearts and blows minds so I figured it would be as good a time as any to shine some halogen on some of the local talent out there.

To3cutt3r is blowing up right now and his much buzzed about single “Best Party Ever”  may just induce exactly what the song title promises, especially when the track’s elements are placed in the hands of the fine fine lads of Flight Facilities.

Out of all the remixes floating around, they’ve got the mellowest, most purified disco-tinged take that existing members of Kool & The Gang could for sure get down on.

the future

The XX are blowing the fuck up right now but Rory Phillips does a great job of keeping them grounded on this futuristic synth-laden journey into space.  Wait a second…

Up & comers So Shifty go way way back to reinterpret the hip new Major Lazer banger “Keep It Goin’ Louder” by incorporating a classic ska beat as the bad ass back bone which unexpectedly works wonders.  Dig it!

GRAND THEFT OF JUAN MACLEAN

Grandtheft gets nasty with the menacing synths on his dubbed out interpretation of Juan Maclean’s “One Day”.  Don’t handle large machinery while under its influence.

MO’ MONEY ON A YACHT

Austin’s finest, Dave Wrangler, does it again with a nice n’ smooth dance floor-basting combination of the verbals from N.A.S.A.’s “Money” and the boom bap from Yacht’s “Pscyho City”.  Boo Yeah.

Speaking of N.A.S.A., they’re tearing through South America for the next few weeks and just recently booked a bunch of shows in Australia, New Zealand & Singapore in the early stages of 2010.  Check out their MySpace page for the details!

jackpot

The three chaps in Jackpot hail from the beautiful landscapes of Sweden and you can hear it in their disco house.

They caused quite a stir first with their Ragazza E.P. and more recently with Volume 9 in the excellent RVNG series.

Here’s a remix from those Brooklyn bad boys of In Flagranti to help you get over the hump.

DON’T COME AROUND HERE NO MO’

Oh man, this video creeped me the fuck out when I was a kid!  Tom Petty gets his seductive, whispy haired, long fingered having, creeptastically sinister on in a big big way on this 80’s classic.

The only thing that made me shit my pants with a greater urgency back then was that big black wolf with the demon voice from The Never Ending Story.  Gmork Lives!

Tiedye does a great job here of dubbing n’ tripping out the original which vastlys improve the creep factor while creating a nice n’ slow burning chugger.

British Columbia’s Laberge lays down some serious disco house underneath the forever soulful vocals of one Miss Jill Scott.

So sublime and funky.  You’ll be staring up at the sky, conjuring up deep thoughts in no time.

TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

You need this in your life.  The remarkable dudes over at Leftside Wobble have recently finished up a super cool edit of the classic Beatles track “Tomorrow Never Knows”.

Not only did they rock the edit but they also whipped up a video to go along with it using an obscure promotional cartoon from 1967.
