DFA disco kings Holy Ghost!, whose 2007/2008 jam “Hold On” and all of their amazing remixes are constantly crushing parties worldwide, just released their new single “I Will Come Back” featuring bubbling synths, those oh so crisp drums and the sincere epicness you’d expect from Nick & Alex.
This time around they went next level and brought in the Brooklyn Youth Chorus for some heavenly warmth on the background vocals.

What ever happened to Cody ChesnuTT?!? He was killing it back in the early part of this decade but has since vanished from the public eye. His self produced “Headphone Masterpiece” is top notch, front porch soul and his guest duties on the legendary Roots crew’s “Seed 2.0″ from their classic album, Phrenology, was and still is phenomenal.
Fast forward to the two thousand and nine and remixer extraordinaire, Don Diablo, has infused the track with some funky electronic lava while successfully maintaining the integrity of the original. Bass warbles, strings, synth stabs, and ill drum breakdowns are abound to help reinvigorate this perfect for the summer jam. Best part is Diablo cuts out all the other vocalists to let Cody shine on his own which is perfectly fine with me. Enjoy!

Going back to Boston for this one. Ed O.G. aka Edo.G has been a staple in “The Bean” for a long minute now and in some circles is considered a living legend. He came out with “Like Of A Kid In The Ghetto” back in 1991 which produced a couple of classics in “Be A Father To Your Child” and “Got To Have It”.
This right here is an album track which hilariously depicts the life of a single man “trying to make it with the ladies in the ’90’s” over top the same slick ass sample Gang Starr used in “Love Sick”.

After that first album Ed O.G. became Edo.G and took a far more considerably underground approach from there on out. He collaborated with DJ Premier and did an entire album with Pete Rock.
I remember hearing a bunch of his tracks killing it on the local 88.9 @ Night on WERS while chillin’ in my room reading The Source. Ahhh the glory days.
